It could take from five to six years until you become fully certified as an anesthesiologist assistant. If you are interested in an even higher income, you can check similar careers such as a CRNA which is a certified registered nurse anesthetist. While the responsibilities are quite comparable, a CRNA will make much more than an anesthesiologist assistant.
